Spanner in the Works is my graduating animation project from RMIT, a fast-paced and comedic short about Angry and Stupid—a grizzled senior racing pilot and his younger, inexperienced co-pilot. In a water covered dystopian world, their reckless antics turn the race into total chaos, but against all odds, the rookie steps up, proving himself just in time for them to snatch victory. Inspired by the bold, graphic style of Samurai Jack and the expressive, minimalist approach of UPA animations, the film combines dynamic action with exaggerated character animation, embracing a playful yet striking visual aesthetic.
